A brief review of my racing career reveals I started at the bottom and climbed to levels I’d only dreamed of accomplishing. From racing on the streets and drag strips of Southern California, to being invited by NASCAR to compete in the Winston Cup Coca Cola 500 in Japan, I loved racing. My success was a combination of luck, hard work and being in the right place at the right time.

After being discharged from the Marine Corps, I decided to give up drag racing and get involved in something that would give me longer periods of driving fast, road racing.

In 1970 I joined a local club called ASRA, which is Arizona Sports Racing Association. ASRA mostly competes on a local road course, similar to SCCA Club Racing. After an on-again off-again relationship with ASRA, I Competed in SCCA Pro World Challenge driving a Chevrolet Camaro in 1991 – 92.

In 1993 I became a member of NASCAR driving on a 1/3 mile oval in Tucson, Arizona. Starting with an Grand American Modified for a couple of years and a partial year in Late Model Stocks.

In 1996 I purchased a NASCAR Cup car and competed in the Winston West Series, now the K&N West Series. In 1996 I competed in four West events with 0ne top 5 and three top 10s. 1997 found me expanding my business without time to race.

In 1998 I competed in 13 of 14 West events finishing 12th in points and invited to compete in the 1998 NASCAR invitational race in Motegi, Japan.

1999 was my last year in competition, competing in the first three races before retiring at age 54.

Racing was always a hobby for me, something I was able to do from time to time as family, finances and business allowed. I feel extremely fortunate to have been involved in racing to the extent that I was. I still watch and love the sport, it’s in my DNA.
